The word gospel means good news and the gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ came to rescue you and me from the power of sin and death. His death on the cross and resurrection made it possible for us to be reconciled to a right relationship with him if we believe in him.
No one is too “bad” to be forgiven or too “good” not to need forgiveness. Jesus offers forgiveness to all who believe in Him, but first we must confess need for forgiveness for our sins.
At that moment we receive salvation by grace through faith, but we must continue to confess our sins as we continue our lives so that our prayers are not hindered. We should try not to sin, but if we do we can trust that God will forgive us.
Prayer and confession should be part of your daily life. You can pray the prayer that Jesus told to his disciples.
“Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
