Malachi: The Last Book in the Old Testament

Malachi contains some very well-known end times prophecies and eternal promises, yet I don’t hear it mentioned as often these days. It’s a short book book, only 4 chapters, and I encourage you to read it today.

The prophet is not speaking to Christians here, these verses are for Israel, but all believers should know what is coming when the remnant is gathered together and Israel’s eyes are opened. Then all will know that Jesus is the Messiah.

““Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. And the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, behold, he is coming, says the Lord of hosts. But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap. He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, and they will bring offerings in righteousness to the Lord. Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem will be pleasing to the Lord as in the days of old and as in former years.”

Like many prophecies, this one has two meanings . It can also be read as referring to John the Baptist and Jesus’s first coming, but obviously Israel did not accept Him. Therefore it must also refer to the millennial period .

Malachi is full of wisdom. Have you ever read it ?

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
