Texas Covid Crisis and Update on my Husband 8/23/2021

Hubby and siblings

Monday evening update: Hello friends, I am so happy to report that God opened the door for me to visit my husband briefly today. It was very unexpected. I went to take him some things, and my oldest son went with me, and as we walked up to the hospital we said a quick prayer that God would let us see him. He’s in a unit that doesn’t allow visitors.

We walked in and the nurse practically invited us to go in, at the same time she was saying it was breaking the rules! Then she let us stay in there for about 10-15 minutes, way longer than I expected! We didn’t question, just hurried to the room before she changed her mind. 🙂 He was so surprised and happy to see us and we hugged him and held his hand.

He’s very weak but , praise God!, he was able to maintain his oxygen in the upper 80s while he talked. That is an improvement. He still can’t walk or stand and is on a minimum of 10 liters of oxygen through the non-rebreather mask. We gave him encouragement and then the nurse came in and I was able to ask her a bunch of questions.

This nurse has covid experience and was very helpful. She said he’s still on the waiting list to transfer to another hospital with an ICU, but it’s not likely. They are doing the best they can and God is making it work. I’m so thankful! Today was his 5th Remdesivir treatment. He’s also getting daily shots in his stomach of blood thinners and he said he’s all bruised and sore. He’s really ready to get out there!

Many people I know are testing positive and having symptoms. Texas needs your prayers and NURSES! They are offering up to$15k sign on bonuses at some hospitals! https://myrgv.com/wire/state/2021/08/08/facing-burnout-hospitals-hit-by-staffing-crisis-in-texas/

Thank you all for your prayers and support.

Covid Chaos 8/3/2021! What about Monoclonal Antibodies?

  1. “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”
    ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭53:5‬.

      • Yes, we started on Monday of last week. We actually, praise God, have a vacation coming up the first week of September. Gives us just enough time to start a rhythm and then break it! That’s ok though. It’s been a long time since we have taken a “real” vacation anywhere so I don’t mind at all. Praying that things improve for your husband and everyone!!!

  2. So delighted to hear this! Having a great nurse can make all the difference. Have been praying for y’all throughout the day and some of my friends have put you on their prayer lists too. Your husband is a fighter!

It is shocking how much anti-competitive certificate of need laws have impacted our nation’s ability to respond to this pandemic. Here in Florida, we have over 21 million people, of which 5 million are elderly, and only 9,000 ICU beds in the entire state. The Affordable Care Act also effectively mandated consolidation of hospitals and put many regional hospitals out of business with all the new red tape. But even if you live in a large city, you are basically beholden to hospital monopolies.

It really is a testament to how powerful special interests are that they did not start building a lot of new hospital facilities during the first covid wave. You’ll notice that China’s first response to the pandemic was to start slapping up new hospitals. Here we let the status quo stand and pay people not to work.

    • My thoughts exactly that they predicted a pandemic but did not expand services , only vaccine research . Texas only has 2100 ICU beds, which I find shocking .

  3. I haven’t had internet. When did this start Paula? I am praying right now for your husband, you and the nurses. Sounds like she knew YOU would be the best medicine.

    • Yes, I was allowed to visit today for 45 minutes. It really depends on which nurse is on duty . He’s making a little progress. Starting to eat a little more, stand up, on a little less oxygen . Definitely improving! Thanks for asking! Gone from home all day today. Hope to post something tomorrow. 💕

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
