It’s true that every time you read the Bible you learn new things as the Holy Spirit enlightens your understanding, well most times. If you are reading while distracted or in a hurry, you might miss it. But I love it when something just jumps out at me like a flashing neon sign. Today that was the following verse:
11 For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers,12 saying,
“I will tell of your name to my brothers;
in the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise.” Hebrews 2:11-12
The “he” in this verse refers to Jesus. Jesus sanctifies us and he comes from the Father, and so do those who are sanctified, that’s US! We are his brothers! Jesus does not call all people his brothers , though, only those who do the will of the Father.
46 While he was still speaking to the people, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him. 48 But he replied to the man who told him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” 49 And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! 50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” Matthew 12:46-50
And what is the will of the Father? For all to believe in the life, death and resurrection of His only Son Jesus Christ.
And this is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us. 1 John 3:23 (NASB)
And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 (NASB)

The Choice
No one asked if we wanted to be born.
Created in God’s image but our hearts are torn
Follow the lusts of this world or choose another,
The way of the Lord, who calls us Brother.
He knows our sins , knows our hearts,
Yet still he offers us brand new starts.
Will you choose his free gift of life?
Or continue on this path of strife?
I love it when revelations like this happen. Talking with my mom one day, I realized not only is she my mother but my sister through Jesus. Blew my mind. Silly I know but this reminded me of that 🙂 Praise the LORD for the revelation you received 🙂
Yes! We are all one family in Christ! It is mind-blowing. Some people are taking the concept too far and making us all one organism, but that is not what the Bible teaches. These false religions leave out the soul/spirit that each of us has. They try to combine humans, animals, nature, and a god of their own creation, anything to reject the one true God. We have to keep countering these ideas while we still can.
I don’t keep up with the “trends” I guess. I have just starting hearing about all the”isms” versions of religion. I only know the Bible and try only to let it, the LORD, and His Spirit guide me. Hehehe. I feel it keeps me out of trouble 🙂 When someone says oh you should read this, or search that, I typically respond, “when I learn all that is in the Bible, I’ll start reading/looking at other stuff.” I have been reading my Bible faithfully everyday(almost, sometimes things happen) for at least a decade, and I am STILL learning something new each time I open it. I am too simple to go past the Word right now 😉
Yep, the enemy will take any good thing and warp it.
What a privilege to be in God’s family! Now we need to be sure we’re living in such a way as to show a “family resemblance.” 😉
