Universal Immortality

We know that Jesus came to give eternal life to those who will believe in Him. But what about those who don’t? Will they just disappear when their physical bodies die?

No. All souls are immortal, meaning they exist forever, but not all will end up in the same place after death.

Here are a few verses about this topic from https://www.gotquestions.org/human-soul-mortal-immortal.html.

Daniel 12:2–3 says, “Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise a will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.” This passage promises a resurrection of both the just and the unjust. When we die, our bodies return to “dust” (cf. Genesis 3:19). From that dust the body will return to either “everlasting life” or “everlasting contempt.” We must assume the soul will be reunited with the body at that time—otherwise, the bodies would be soulless and therefore inhuman.

In Matthew 25:46 Jesus said that the wicked “will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.” The same Greek word, translated “eternal,” is used to describe both “punishment” and “life.” Jesus clearly taught that both the wicked and the righteous will exist forever in one of two conditions. Thus, every human being has an immortal, everlasting soul.” https://www.gotquestions.org/human-soul-mortal-immortal.html

Jesus came to provide the truth about the way to eternal life. The truth is that Jesus made the way for us. He reconciled us and redeemed us and rescued us from eternal punishment reserved for the ungodly. Through faith in Jesus we have the right to become the children of God, which means that we will spend eternity with God. Without faith, we will not spend eternity with God, we will spend it in a place referred to as eternal punishment, the lake of fire or hell. If you think this world is evil now, just imagine every good thing you can think of being removed and the whole world being controlled by the most evil person you can think of.

Hell will be even worse than that. It will be the total absence of light, truth, joy, peace, hope, love, and goodness because God will not be there. But it will not be blissful nothingness, it will be a place of torment and those who are there will be aware. What a horrible thought!

But you can choose to put your faith in the Way today. Think about the alternative and make the right choice. Repent and believe. And make sure you are trusting in the real Jesus. Beware the counterfeits.

I know that many who read this will not take one minute to consider their eternal future because they have been taught that ‘religion’ is bad or that heaven and hell are simply myths or that it’s not rational to believe in God or even that it’s wrong to label people as ‘sinners’. So think about this. What if you’ve been lied to about all of that and heaven and hell are real? I pray that you will ask God to show you the truth today. Don’t wait!

  1. I think we all know that this life is not the end, but many people simply refuse to admit that God is God. These people want too badly to be their own god.

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
