AlphaGo Documentary: YouTube

This was an amazing story and the production is very well done. Thankful that YouTube recommended it.

I don’t want to give away too much about the story . It’s definitely worth watching to see for yourself. The topic is an AI Go player against the world champion Go player Lee Sedol from Korea.

It may sound boring, but the emotional and philosophical components were very intense. What we are seeing is the realization that computers will indeed outsmart humans, but also that we can learn from them.

I enjoyed seeing the anxiety and joy of the close-knit team of game creators and learning about the history and culture of an ancient game that is considered an art.

This is not a cold, factual documentary. It’s about the beautiful contrast between computers and the humans who use them.

Check it out!

From the Youtube description: Directed by Greg Kohs and with an original score by Academy Award nominee Hauschka, AlphaGo had its premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival. It has since gone on to win countless awards and near universal praise for a story that chronicles a journey from the halls of Oxford, through the backstreets of Bordeaux, past the coding terminals of DeepMind in London, and ultimately, to the seven-day tournament in Seoul. As the drama unfolds, more questions emerge: What can artificial intelligence reveal about a 3000-year-old game? What can it teach us about humanity? Find out more:

      • Yep, we watched it and it was certainly NOT boring for a documentary! Very well done theatrically, and very interesting theologically. Makes me wonder about the statue of the Beast that the false prophet brings to life? People, get ready! Jesus WILL come back! 🙂
        ❤️&🙏, c.a.
p.s. give our best wishes to John; he’s still in my prayers as well.

      • I’m glad you enjoyed it. And yes , AI will probably be heavily used to deceive. Thanks for the prayers! He’s doing better most days . Unfortunately we just discovered that our kids bathroom will need extensive remodeling due to a tub leaking for a long time . He’s not fond of plumbing repairs . 😬🙏

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
