There’s a great poem about loving people, trying and working hard, and doing good things even though people will hurt you, not reciprocate and you’ll fail sometimes and we can’t always control the results of our best efforts. The poem has been chopped up into smaller quotes that get passed around the internet a lot. One of the popular lines says:
“People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.
Love them anyway.”
and that popped into my head today. It’s a great poem by Dr. Kent M. Keith and I was going to share it, but I see that the poem is copyrighted, so I am going to share the website instead. It’s worth a click to read this very inspiring poem. The website says that it was written to inspire student leaders in 1968.
Anyway, The Paradoxical Commandments
It also goes well with what God has to say about Love. This is the Love God has for us and the Love He says we should have for others , through the power of the Holy Spirit. It’s supernatural! It’s impossible without God to truly love like this. So when people treat you badly, pray and ask God to help you love them like He loves you. Try to remember that everyone is fighting a battle and some of them are unseen. Forgive people without strings attached. Let it go. Remember the good in them and build it up with encouragement. Life is too short not to!
Amen! We have the 1 Corinthians 13 love verses on a plaque hanging in our kitchen reminding our family daily what true love is. Praise God for His love! God bless!
I need that reminder often . 😬
I love this song, too – probably inspired by that poem:
