I’ve been busy. I was going to say I had a bee in my bonnet and I just couldn’t get rid of it, but Google describes that saying like a bad thing. So I’ll just say I couldn’t stop thinking about how I would like to be able to file taxes for people locally. So after much deliberation and prayer, I am now fully set up to file taxes as an independent tax professional.
At my age, if you get an idea, you don’t have time to worry too much, you just have to go for it. So I did!
I started my first business back in 1990. That was short lived, but a good learning experience. I sold it when I had my first child.
Here I am, 36 years later, 61 years old, starting again. I’ll be working for Turbo Tax as well, but they allow their employees to have their own business. I’m assuming it will take some time to build a clientele. Two clients so far.
It took some time to choose a software program. I almost went with Tax Slayer until I found out it didn’t have forms mode in the online version. I also considered using a “service bureau” that offered free software in exchange for a cut of the bank product fees, but figured out that wasn’t really for me.
I settled on Tax Act Professional because it was inexpensive and yet has all the features I need for now. It backs up to the cloud and uses a client portal. I can do individual and business returns. I also subscribed to Google Workspace which is super useful.
My husband has been very supportive. He, Grace and the boys are all doing well. And the cats and dogs are living their best life.

Hope everyone is having a good summer. God bless!

awesome!!
Thanks! Hope you’re doing okay with that smoky air.
