A Remarkable Documentary About A Remarkable Life

I watched something on Netflix yesterday that I think should be required viewing for all ages. Choose your viewing time wisely because it will do a number on your emotions. From the opening few minutes until the end you are going to FEEL. Maybe I was in a particularly vulnerable mood, but I think it will touch even the hardest heart. Not only is the story quite interesting and touching, but the production is very well done and creative. When I wasn’t thinking about the story, I was thinking about how they made the movie.

While it is technically a documentary, The Remarkable Life of Ibelin includes animation from the video game World of Warcraft and actual dialogue between players.

I am not a gamer, but some of my sons are. This story gave me a new perspective and appreciation of the value of video games for certain people and purposes. It also increased my empathy for and understanding of the struggles that an increasing number of young people experience during to autism and other mental health challenges. This is not something I’m unfamiliar with, but this story added new insights into their lives.

Oh yeah, he was a blogger , too.
