Are Public Schools Purposely Producing Low Information Voters?

Low information voters are people who go to the polls and help choose our elected representatives based on very little, often flawed information. They are a danger to the election process. But why are they so uninformed and misinformed ? I think there are several reasons, including poor parenting, but it mostly goes back to the education system.

I’ve been studying who votes for whom and it’s very telling.

Really?

The groups that are far more likely to vote for progressive socialist candidates include both public school teachers and recent graduates. I don’t think that’s a coincidence.

Young Men are doing their homework.

Of the young conservative voters, we can assume that they have been taught about politics and government by conservative outside influences, including private school teachers . Many of them have some experience with debating the issues with other people which encourages critical thinking. Those who never talk about politics are more likely to simply believe and repeat what they see on social media or hear from their liberal college professors.

If we want a better nation, we need to fix the broken education system. We should hire more men, pay them better, and stop allowing unions to run the schools.

  1. It does seem that conservatives are more receptive to open debate or discussion than liberals, these days. I haven’t been in a classroom in many years, but I remember that differing opinions and critical thinking was encouraged, way back then.

Nowadays, from what I’ve heard, there are some opinions you can get into a lot of trouble for expressing in a classroom. What a shame. I’m sure glad I’m not in school anymore.

  2. Hmmm, well poor parenting and public education brainwashing are certainly significant factors, but I think peer pressure is a huge factor. We are living in a different culture today, one where fitting in and going along with the crowd is the prime directive. I do know that in a blue state you really have to be an outlier and a rebel in order to support conservative issues. There are numerous cancel culture consequences like being unable to get a job, housing, or have a social life. I’m older, I just roll my eyes at such things, but younger people really need community, approval, and the support of other adults around them.
