Which “People” is Kamala For?

I watched Kamala’s entire acceptance speech. She says she is “for the people”, but which ones?

The speech was very popular. She said what people wanted to hear, what they wanted to be true, what makes them feel safe and hopeful. If only it were true. Watching her brilliantly crafted performance helped me understand why people, especially women, are falling for this new iteration of the current vice president. And why they aren’t asking why she and Biden and the Democrats haven’t already done the things she says she’ll do.

People love inspiring speeches but they don’t think about history and policy details and facts, or long-term. This is nothing new and politicians have used rhetoric to capture the hearts and minds of millions for centuries. But this is the first presidential campaign of the advanced AI age.

Thanks to vast amounts of data collected in real time, political strategists can modify their messaging instantly according to public sentiment, unexpected events like the Trump assassination attempt, economic data, and geopolitical developments. The Democrats have the tech industry on their side and they are taking full advantage of the technology. But, sadly, I don’t think the Republicans have updated their methodology, and because of that, she will win. Algorithms may have helped Trump get elected , but AI is way past simple manipulation of Facebook posts now. Considering how we are manipulated daily by algorithms, we shouldn’t be surprised that elections use AI as well.

Her acceptance speech, which was unlike many of her previous speeches that featured incoherent and incorrect statements and maniacal laughter, resonated with diverse audiences by using standard propaganda techniques and vague language that allows for multiple interpretations, and was most likely greatly aided by the use of AI.

The choice of language and tone is critical in a speech and AI can suggest words and phrases that are both inclusive and adaptable, helping politicians strike a balance between specificity and generality.

For instance, a phrase like “growing the middle class” which Harris repeated several times can mean different things to different people, depending on their concerns and hopes. Of course she did not elaborate on how she planned to grow the middle class. The reality is that the modern economy is very complicated and one does not simply ‘grow a class’, despite claims by Harris and Trump. Yep, that’s a Trump campaign promise, too. https://www.cnn.com/2024/08/16/politics/harris-middle-class-tax-cuts-economic-policy/index.html https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/28/politics/kamala-harris-trump-middle-class/index.html

Her speech touched on all the hot button issues and appealed to the human desires to feel included in something important, to be righteous, empowered, and free from external constraints. Her opening story about her strong Indian mother appealed to women, immigrants, and anyone who feels victimized.

She painted herself literally as being “for the people” when she was a lawyer in California, although not everyone would agree with her definition of “the people”. It struck me that ‘the people’ she is for are people who agree with her goals, people who want the government to take care of them, and people who believe they are victims of an unfair world.

Harris also appeals to people who feel left behind in today’s economy and think the government should control the manufacture, sale, and prices of goods and services, as well as wages. And to people who are skeptical or hateful towards religion. And to people who confuse abortion with birth control and believe the lie there are frequent instances where women need abortions ‘to save their lives’. And the same people who think that the ‘ends justify the means’ , ‘truth is relative’, and ‘words are violence’. These are people who believe that if someone disagrees with them they are being oppressed.

The people Harris and her gang do not represent include people who understand that promises like these come with chains attached. Her plans to grow the middle class will be accomplished by shrinking the upper class. When asked how she will pay for her economic policies, she said with ‘return on investment.” While it’s true that spending money can sometimes create more money, that can only happen if you HAVE money and she did not answer the question where the money will come from. The answer is taxes.

She claimed that Trump would tax the middle class which was a major twisting of his proposed tariffs. Kamala fact checked His Tax Cuts and Jobs Act reduced taxes on the middle class. If Harris does not extend those cuts, we will all be paying more taxes , a lot more. This is just one example of her false claims.

She completely ignored the wishes of a very large number of voters who do not want to pay for government funded abortions or ineffective methods and immoral teachings in public schools, and do not want their second amendment rights violated. Her supposedly inclusive speech left out all conservative Christians and Muslims. One notable absence in her speech was any mention of protecting religious rights, freedom of religious expression or any reference to her own faith in God. She used the generic word “faith” once.

“The people” that she doesn’t represent include people who believe in limited government and state’s rights. This includes a large and diverse group such as anarchists, libertarians, classical liberals, and true Republicans. Many people believe that neither party represents their views or problems. https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2023/09/19/americans-dismal-views-of-the-nations-politics/ But Harris would have you believe that she will be the unifying force in a very divided nation by magically healing all the damage done by the identity politics movement that was led by…..DEMOCRATS. And the people she doesn’t represent include those whose rights would be trampled by laws that force religious people to obey laws that go against their beliefs.

I think most of us want to do the right thing, but our life experiences shape our beliefs on what is right. Some people have been taught that human life is sacred while others believe that life would not be worth living if they were to become disabled and would rather be dead. There are also widely varying definitions of “freedom” and “rights”. Unfortunately the public schools do not teach critical thinking skills and more people get their spiritual education today from social media than from churches.

Here is the point. The Democrats have a very different plan for ‘moving forward’ for ‘the people’ than Trump does. Do you want to move forward into an ever-growing national debt, ever-growing government control of the economy, restriction of your Constitutional rights so you can feel good about protecting the so-called right to a government funded abortion?

Interest payments on federal government debt are projected to reach $892 billion in 2024. This is more than the government is projected to spend on defense and almost a third higher than what the United States spent on debt interest payments in 2023. This increase reflects the combination of the rise in US government debt and higher interest rates.

May God have mercy on America.

  1. I believe we have passed a point of no return. The message I get from Father’s Spirit when I pray is Jeremiah 7:16, 11:14 and 14:11. It makes me weep like the prophet’s Lamentations when this strikes me. The America we knew as children is already gone. May God have mercy on His people in the midst of all that is soon to happen.😢

    • Things look bad but I’m still not sure how fast the crash will happen. There could even be a temporary “glory age” during which the left’s plans appear to be working, before they completely devalue the dollar.

      • Less how things appear, but what I “feel” when I pray for our country.
If Trump is elected, we will have riots in almost every major city that will make the 60s race riots seem like a day in the park; if Harris is elected, any personal liberties will be stripped from Americans. Very sad.😔

  2. Very well written blog, Paula. What I’ve seen from the DNC is a lot of TDS and a culture of death. There was little talk of policies and the condition of the country right now, and a lot of bad-mouthing of President Trump. Also a lot of support for abortion, that no matter how you disguise it always results in the death of an innocent child. I read that in one of the days, Trump was mentioned 81 times, inflation was mentioned once. The Democrats have had the presidency in 12 of the last 16 years, but would have us believe that every problem in the country right now was caused by Trump.

Harris says she will fix all the problems, but she has had almost 4 years to fix them and has done nothing. Why would we vote for 4 more years of this? What the voters should do is compare both party’s platforms side by side and see what they actually propose to solve the problems in the country.

I pray that we have a good, honest election, with no cheating on either side. And that the voters take a good look at both party’s records, and the positions of the candidates.
