Even before Instagram distorted our perception of what people should look like , even before Seventeen Magazine and Hollywood, even before classical artists, way back to Bible times , and before, there have been beauty standards. Certain features are just noticeable and we admire them. Nothing wrong with noticing someone with a gorgeous face, skin, pretty eyes, perfect figure, or a strong handsome man with muscles. We also notice flowers and pretty skies and adorable babies and cute kittens. Humans are drawn to certain traits.
But the beauty standards of 2024 are so extreme that most of us feel unattractive in comparison. Or we work way too hard to change our appearance to fit those standards and endanger our health and self worth. You are much more important than your dress size or hair style or weight.
You are an amazing creation! There’s no one else like you. So even if you don’t look like a model, or you have crooked teeth or frizzy hair or you’re chubby or your legs are too long or anything else you don’t like about your appearance, you are beautiful! You were created in the image (or likeness) of God ! You have a purpose and a reason for being here, to glorify God with your life. So smile and hold your head up and thank God that He made you.
What a profound and true sentiment. God created us all in His image and He doesn’t make mistakes or anything that is not beautiful! LORD, thank You for continuing to bless PK 🙂
So love it. We all need to hear it often!
Oh my yes! And, I’m so sick of people adding photo effects, even after they’ve tried botox and a thick layer of makeup!
She IS beautiful.
I wish all the best for your mom.
What a lovely post!
