“Humanity is acquiring all the right technology for all the wrong reasons”*…

The post above is from https://roughlydaily.com/2023/11/23/humanity-is-acquiring-all-the-right-technology-for-all-the-wrong-reasons/

I have been concerned about the loss of meaning caused by outsourcing work to machines ever since I learned about the Great Reset plan of globalists to automate everything. Meaning and purpose are directly connected with our daily activities.

The young generation of the developed world is being groomed to think work is a bad thing. They are literally being taught that work is oppressive. And at the same time they are being giving addictive entertainment technology as an artificial substitute for real life. Many of them have been born and raised with having someone else do everything for them. They don’t know how to work and don’t want to. They’ve been brainwashed. They’re deprived of all the good things that come from learning new skills and doing work.

And we now have a whole lot of depressed and anxious young people. The most miserable people I know are those with nothing to do every day besides indulge their own desires. A vacation is nice, and rest is important, but not an endless string of days with no purposeful activity. Humans need activity that helps others and contributes to the greater good , even if it’s volunteering or taking care of children or animals. Total selfishness is not healthy.

I believe that the more we put unemployed people on subsistence welfare programs, the more mental illness and violence and drug addiction we will see. AI is great, but not if it destroys jobs that provide the ability for men and women to have a real reason to get up every day.

Even low paying, boring jobs can provide a way to earn respect and develop self-respect and confidence for a job well done. Men need this especially. Being with other people and working towards a common goal is also critical at preventing isolation and depression. If UBI replaces jobs, we will need to create new opportunities for meaningful community and individual projects . At this point you’d think that would be very easy to do since there are so many people who need food and housing. But who will be in charge is the question. Will AI bring the end of the world as we know it ? Will it usher in utopia or 1984?

By the way , my short book about AI is still available on Amazon. AI: Artificial Intelligence and You https://a.co/d/ipnuHcs

  1. Excellent observations. While work CAN be oppressive in some circumstances, it was originally created as a good thing. (After giving Adam life, the first thing God gave Adam was a job.)

  2. Perhaps you might be interested in Victor Frankl’s work.
He introduced the idea of noogenic neuroses.
These illnesses are caused by a lack of purpose and meaning.
He wrote also the famous book “Man’s search for meaning.”
