Looking for a movie for this evening? I recommend “Downsizing” on Netflix. Don’t be put off by the early scenes or the description. It’s actually pretty good.
This is not “Honey I Shrunk the Kids”. I didn’t expect this movie to go the way it did. It starts out with climate alarmism. I don’t want to give away how it ends. Let’s just call it sneaky. Check it out for yourself.
Wikipedia says ” It was a box-office bomb, grossing only $55 million against a production budget of $68–76 million, and received mixed reviews from critics.[4] Nevertheless, it was chosen by the National Board of Review as one of the top ten films of 2017,[5] while Chau earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the 75th Golden Globe Awards.[6]“
Already watched it? What did you think?

Hmm, looks interesting. I’ll have to check it out.
I look forward to your comments!

Never heard of the film, but it has been decades since I had much interest in movies.
I expect the film is entertaining. IB certainly likes it. And I enjoyed science fiction when I was younger.
Why did the film perform poorly at the box office? Science fiction without good guys and villains does not have much public appeal. Also, given that trailer, my guess is that most people perceived the film as a horror film and just tooooo scary. Our government would shrink us down without giving us a choice.
Also, that trailer sounds a bit implausible. To be small is to be rich? No. Once anyone is that small, it’s a mouse’s life. In this world there are just too many critters who will happily attack anything that small, including other human beings.
What I appreciated is how they portrayed the class struggle as still existing within the utopian mini-world. And they also portrayed the clumsy cult accurately. Matt Damon plays a regular guy with a heart and values . Definitely not what I expected.
Interesting!
