“The” Hot Topic

Living in a safe and mostly free country, it’s hard to imagine bombs destroying your town, or being kidnapped or murdered in your home. But unfortunately, war and violence is not rare in the world. We just don’t think about it that much. Until lately. It’s impossible not to think about war, death, suffering, and injustice right now.

I have not said anything yet about Hamas, Palestine, and Israel, because…..it’s too hot of a topic. You might think that reasonable people would find common ground on this topic, but it has become a very divisive subject in the media. The one thing I feel like I can say here is that you can care about the suffering and death of people on both sides and pray for peace without being disloyal or supporting injustice or terrorism. These are human lives and they matter to God. (Still, someone will probably comment that ‘they’ deserve the suffering, whichever side they hate. )

Don’t try to rationalize it, justify it, or make sense of what’s happening. Just pray that God will make it stop.

The following are just a few of the many videos I’ve watched. It’s crazy how you can watch two videos that say totally opposite things. Thankfully it’s not my job to judge.

This is a couple of years old, but very informative.
Interesting rebuttal to the most common narratives you hear repeated in the media.

  1. It is a very sensitive topic.
All I can say is that it breaks my heart to see a man with his child in his arms, wrapped in a plastic sheet, taking her and leaving her in the back of a truck or storage unit.
If anyone just looks at the numbers everyday, these scenes should bring you back around to realizing that each number is a real person. On both sides.
Somebody left their child in a cold storage container, wrapped in a plastic bag and had to turn around and leave her there.
I don’t sympathize with one side more than the other, but we see the Palestinian side every day.
Some Israelis still do not have the bodies of their loved ones.
