When God Chose A Lesbian to Speak for Him

It’s one thing to get saved, and another to realize your whole life was a lie. Rosaria Butterfield has a powerful testimony. She is not the only lesbian or gay person whose life has been totally transformed by Jesus, but she is one of the most eloquent. Her intelligence and speaking ability have made her a very useful witness for the Gospel. People love to hear encouraging testimonies of being saved from a life of sin, drugs, and despair, but Rosaria Butterfield’s story is not necessarily popular with the current culture.

Butterfield was not down and out at the time of her conversion. She was an outspoken lesbian feminist and a comfortably tenured professor of queer theory. God grabbed her and shook her and pulled her out of that world, causing her to lose all her friends and have to find a new subject to teach. They couldn’t fire her, but her whole life was thrown into turmoil. It was similar to the conversion of the Christian-hating Pharisee, Saul, who God miraculously converted into Paul the Apostle and lover of Christ. Butterfield did an about face, became a devout believer, got married, and now speaks and writes about replacing the lies of the feminist and LGBTQ doctrines with the truth of God’s Word. God is using her gifts for His glory and, as with Paul, her previous lifestyle serves as strong evidence to listeners that He can truly change lives.

As I said, she is not the first lesbian to make a U-turn to Christ. But her ability to speak clearly and engagingly about her conversion and beliefs gives her access to large groups of people who are eager to help free those who are trapped in those lies, or free themselves. To learn more please visit her website and listen to some podcasts or check out her books. And please watch the video below to get a better idea of her heart for the lost. She is not a bigot or uncompassionate or judgmental. She is a person who was radically saved and feels compelled to share the truth. Don’t miss her moving testimony near the end where she sings Psalm 23.

  1. Awesome!
WHOM God chooses to spread His message is in itself a message.
He chooses those who sinned greatly to show that no sin is too great to be forgiven and no matter how far you strayed, you can always return and be accepted by Him.

  2. I loved the episodes of the Alisa Childers podcast when Rosaria Butterfield was a guest. Very eye-opening and she helped me get better footing on the LGBT issue and how to face it with love but not letting go of truth.

  3. I’ve finally got around to watching the podcast.
One thing that stood out in particular is the way that it creeps into society one step at a time. For instance: changing gender as becoming normal and acceptable to a degree that society becomes complacent. My 14 year old granddaughter tells me that lots of girls at her school want to be lesbiens as it seems to be becoming fashionable. Something is brainwashing them.
