Lawlessness In America

I don’t think anyone denies that America has some serious issues. But we can’t seem to agree on how to fix them. The left thinks that the problem is evil capitalism and the right thinks it’s evil socialism. There is some truth to both claims. But the real problem is that America is no longer enforcing laws. Sometimes laws are used to punish politicians and sometimes they are used to give undeserved freedom to criminals. Often they are used to make life easier for the already rich and powerful. We are becoming a lawless nation.

If the millions of laws that are already on the books were actually consistently and fairly enforced without regard for race, creed, or politics, things would begin to turn around. We have laws against monopolies and corruption and child abuse and murder and theft. When our judges are corrupt, we are doomed. This lawlessness is the natural result of not having good leadership. And good leadership is leadership that is moral and is not swayed by money, self-interest, or ambition, which is as rare as rain in the desert.

Lawlessness and it’s results can be seen throughout history. God dealt with it once by flooding the whole earth and killing every living thing except for Noah, his family, and a big boatload of animals. But next time he will deal with it using fire. This whole earth is going to burn up. Those who put their faith in the Lord will not perish. They have eternal life.

See Matthew 24:12 and 2 Thessalonians 2:7-8

In the time of the Judges in the Bible, which was after the Exodus and after going into the Promised Land, the people became lawless and did whatever was right in their own eyes. The priests were not leading the people. They had religious practices, but no righteousness.

Then God set up a system of government for his people using kings. The kings alternated between good and idolatrous. Then God sent Jesus who is our King and Savior.

The monarchal system died out in various revolutions and now we have rule ‘by the people’. America had great intentions! Then ‘science and reason’ became our god. Science and reason evidently means that laws can be changed willy-nilly.

Things are deteriorating quickly in society, though many think that technology will save them. Anti-human and pro-death agendas are barely hidden these days. People are losing the ability to think clearly due to the effectiveness of social engineering of the internet. Children’s lives and futures are being sacrificed to Baal. Earth worship and humanism is deceiving millions. Those of us who hate evil and love righteousness will suffer from lawless men and their blind supporters.

But do not lose hope! Believers already have the victory in Christ Jesus. He has overcome the world. Keep doing good until he returns. And as much as you can, vote for men and women who say they will uphold the law and the Constitution, not try to overthrow it. God bless!

  1. We had some people from my husband’s work over from the Bay Area. We talked about crime in that area versus where we live out in the desert 45 minutes north of Phoenix. The only crime we have is speeding. They both agreed they could get used to that.
