Summer Evening

The chickens are ready for bed.

Texas summers are always hot, but this summer has been hotter than usual. It’s too hot to go outside after about 11:00, but the evenings are relatively comfortable.

It’s after 9 PM and it’s still 86 degrees. We haven’t had much rain where I live so the grass is getting crunchy. But I am thankful for the sunshine and sunsets.

My husband is on vacation starting tomorrow. We don’t have any firm plans. We might go down to Galveston one day.

How’s your summer going?

  1. I live in Nottinghamshire, England. Temperatures are on the low side for this time of the year. At the moment it is 14c (56 f) 8.30 am. A high of 17c (62f) is forecast for today. We have had the odd days where it has been 25c(78f) but mostly so far, it has been too cool. We are getting lots of heavy showers also.

  2. It is dry on the reservation, with the fire danger being raised to High this week. That is the fourth of five potential ratings. This weekend is our community celebration, the Little Beaver Festival, taking place for the first time since 2019. This morning is a 72 mile, two rider, six horse relay race. Tonight is a powwow and rodeo. They will also take place tomorrow, along with a really good parade for a community of our size. We skip the powwow, due to all of the non-Christian spirituality there but I’ve got my car parked to reserve our place to watch the parade. Monday I leave for a second trip to Wisconsin this summer. When I get back. close to the end of the month, I’ll be bringing my 91 year-old dad, who will be moving in with us. That square wasn’t on our 2023 bingo card, but I believe it’s the right thing for him and us. Lot’s of other things going on with us this summer, but I’ve already written enough. Hope you and John enjoy his time off of work!

    • Thanks for the update! Enjoy your weekend and safe travels next week. Those changeable bingo cards keep us on our toes! My plans are somewhat on hold waiting to find out if my mom is going to need more help in the near future . If she has ALS, I will need to help her. She has an EMG test next week.
