Created to Worship

People were created for a purpose . That purpose is to worship God. Yet many Christians seem to think that they were created for anything and everything but that. How do we get it so wrong ?

Our hearts deceive us into worshipping ourselves and from there we pursue the things and pleasures of this world instead of God. Even believers!

It is impossible to worship God without humbling yourself, denying your own selfish desires and submitting to God’s holy authority. This takes effort and practice.

As we worship God today , let us remember that He is worthy of all glory and honor and praise !

Have a blessed day!

  1. I also think one of the things that get people hung up on is the definition of the word “worship”….If all that comes to mind is one long prayer and thanksgiving meeting, that doesn’t do too much to get me excited (and I am very intentional about trying to be a thankful person. Worship (as I understand it) also includes doing everything I do, as unto the Lord (Paul mentions that several times in his letters, that includes everything. Even pealing potatoes, or doing dishes as unto the Lord. I build houses, tables, manage my honey bees, as unto the Lord. I think we tend to compartmentalize our Christian lives..this is church related, this is secular related….not true. Everything (if I am connected to the Lord) can be a type of worship. Since you are a believer, I’m OK with leaving a bible verse to back up what I’m saying… 🙂 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” …and this one : “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”…just how I understand the term “worship”… Whenever I am using my gifts, whatever they are, intentionally, as if I’m doing them as unto God, then for me that is a form of worship. I’m a carpenter by vocation. You better believe a lot of prayer, and conversation with God goes into my days…..for me that is a form of worship.

    • Great point! I heartily agree . Maybe a good term for what you described is having a “heart of worship” . My thought is that people often focus much more on what “they are doing for God” than on “WHO God is” and how awesome He is. At least I know I did for too long . God in his mercy brought me to this new place .

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
