Misty Morning Hike at McKinney Roughs Nature Park

It’s been a few months since I have been to my favorite hiking place, McKinney Roughs in Cedar Creek. The weather was not going to be perfect, but I really wanted to go. I went to bed early and woke up excited. After making myself an egg sandwich and filling up my pack with water and gels (which I didn’t need), I told my dog, let’s go and she happily jumped into the van. The park is about 1.5 hours away. I listened to some Tony Evans podcasts on the way. The number of closed down businesses along the highway was sad and shocking to me. Covid has really taken a toll. As we got to closer to the park, the sky darkened and it was raining lightly when I pulled into the parking lot. But it was not cold, so I decided to go ahead and hike. It turned out that the misty rain kept me from getting too hot. The trails were a little muddy, but not deep mud, just the sticky kind. We had a great hike! Hope you enjoy the photos!

  1. Great photos!
Whenever the weather is half decent around here, the parking lots as our local parks where you can hike are always overflowing.
People are chomping at the bit to get outside.

    • Thanks! Hope you can get out and enjoy the trails soon and they aren’t too crowded. That is why I love this place. It’s not as popular because it’s not as close as some other parks.

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
