A Lot of People are Going to be Shocked and Disappointed

He can’t lose!

He can’t win!

I’m not worried at all. My guy is going to win.

The polls are right!

The polls are wrong!

I’m not worried. All my friends are voting for him.

Obviously no one in their right mind would vote for him

Only a few uninformed, racist, socialist, fools would choose him.

I can’t wait for the big victory!

The future of America depends on it!

A lot of people are going to be happy.

A lot of people are going to be sad.

  1. It feels like people are losing their minds en masse, but really it’s almost a perfect replay of 2016. Statistically inevitable candidate, not even trying to campaign because it’s in the bag, but inexplicably angry and bitter for being the heir apparent. Everyone living in steel-reinforced intellectual bubbles. Lots of posturing about decency and norms from people who justify cruelty and schadenfreude in the next breath. I’m so over all the theater and melodrama and hysterics. And it’s not going to end. Whomever loses is going to start talking about a massive conspiracy.

  2. Just read a recent column by Kevin Martin in World Magazine that touches on this very issue (and more) , and has given me a lot of peace when I have been tempted to fear. Based on Proverbs 19:21 “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand”….

“….tense elections? Whatever the news, the purpose of the Lord will stand… only God knows what the news will hold over the next few months- we can hope for specific outcomes, but our real hope is in the trustworthy promises of the God who loves us and who is working in the world to accomplish His purposes..” end quote.
