Kleo and Fast Times at Ridgemont High

What’s on Netflix?

Remember that old movie that was so funny and iconic in the 80s, Fast Times at Ridgemont High? We tried to watch it the other night and I was APPALLED at the non-stop sex talk, obvious promotion of smoking, and glorification of drug use. I really did not remember how blatant it was. I guess as a teenager in the 80s, I thought it was normal. No one wonder there were so many teen pregnancies in those days. That movie was like a How-to for teenagers. We turned it off.

So then we started watching Kleo. We watch a lot of foreign movies and series because they are usually not woke like Hollywood stuff. The Russian ones are particularly interesting.

The Kleo series was unique. Lots of action and a few laughs, especially for the Thilo character. The main plot is that Kleo, a Stasi assassin gets put in prison and doesn’t know why. When she gets out she is determined to find out. The part I liked was the insider look at Cold War East German culture and their obsession with socialism. The wardrobes and decor and cars were awesome. Excellent acting. We liked it. Supposedly there will be a second season. I won’t give away any details. Let me know if you’ve seen it.

Here is the trailer. You can choose English dubbing when you watch it.
