Going Viral: The Oliver Anthony Story

You’ve probably heard about a viral song called “Rich Men North of Richmond’ that went viral on YouTube after it got shared on Twitter/X. If you haven’t, you should take a listen. The first time I heard it my husband was watching the video and I thought it wasn’t that great. But I have since listened to it many times because I actually like it. It’s one of those songs that gets stuck in your heard, the tune and the lyrics. So check it out.

The song video got shared and began to take on a life of it’s own because it struck a chord with young men who feel disenfranchised and discouraged about their future in today’s economy. The video produced by radiowv has had over 32 MILLION views so far in 13 days. But the singer has his own channel which he used to put out his songs recorded on his Iphone , so check out his channel, too. https://www.youtube.com/@oliveranthonymusic

The interesting thing is that both right and left seem to think the song was about their political platforms. But Oliver Anthony says he is in the center and that he recently overcame addiction and returned to God. But he found the common ground that men of all ages can often relate to, feeling small in a world run by rich men.

I made a short podcast discussing the song and the viralness. Listen if you’d like to know more about the singer, a young man who never expected or wanted to get famous, whose real name is Christopher Anthony Lunsford.
