Have you ever tried to improve your life and things went wonky? All the time, right?

Well last week I decided to cut the cord with AT&T after paying them many, many thousands of dollars over the years for cell phone service. My son had switched to Visible by Verizon and he’s very happy with it. The switching process was not simple. You have to unlock your phone, request a PIN to transfer your number, download the Visible app, create an account, choose from one of two plans, put in a payment method and your address, and then they will send you a SIM. You will also need your previous carrier account number and the transfer PIN to complete the switchover after you get the SIM. When you get the SIM card you have to take out the old one and put the new one in, which was a first for me. Then you go on the app and activate the account by following the instructions. All of your data and stuff will still be on your phone. That part was not difficult.

I did all of the above and everything was great….for two days. And then,

Then my SIM card stopped working. But I didn’t know it was the SIM card. So I spent much time on the Visible CHAT trying to fix the lack of service problem. This was very frustrating, and took several separate chats to get to the root of the problem, the SIM card. So they are sending me a new one.

Thankfully my husband’s phone, which we also switched, is working fine. But it has been really strange not being able to text or call or receive texts and calls. FYI: Wifi calling doesn’t work without a connected SIM card. I feel pretty isolated! But I did get a lot of housecleaning done this morning. If the SIM doesn’t fix the problem, I might need to get a newer phone. My phone is an iPhone 8. Just a heads up, some phones will not work with Visible and you will have to update to the latest iOS or whatever Android calls it.

UPDATE: The new SIM would not activate. I am not sure if the problem is my phone or the Visible app, but either way I am giving them until tomorrow to fix it and then I’m going to switch to someone else. So, even though Visible works for my son and my husband, so far I am not having a good time with it. Hopefully my other two sons will not regret switching as they are in the process now.
